Duke- 3 year old APHA gelding.  Adopted on January 11, 2006!

Duke came back to us after finding out he has pretty bad ring bone on his front feet.  Which is too bad, because this guy has the heart to do anything!  He is like  a bored kid, who is always bugging my other horses to play with him!  he will actually go to training this next year to see if he will be able to with stand some driving work!  He likes to come to functions with me and is the best boy!  He also likes to pick on all of my volunteers when we are cleaning.  Gets into trouble and is a very smart boy!  We will be getting some recent xrays on him and seeing if there is more we can do. When he is just out on pasture, he never gets sore or lame.  Its prolonged use. We will see how much he can do with a person riding him, but he cant do extended rides.  Would you like to sponsor this guy?  I really think my other horses would love to see him gone, but he will stay here at my ranch!  So what I would like is to raise enough to train him, get xrays and maybe he will need injections to help with this.  Most often, ring bone gets worse when they get older.  If it werent for Duke, my horses would be boring!

Ace-

Ace 1.jpg

5 year old QH gelding.

Ace, what can I say about Ace??  he is such a big, big boy and such a big, big coward!  He is almost to the bottom of the herd, but loves his herd very, very much.  he is such a sweet pea and actually has come a long ways from when I got him.  I got him at an auction and I think he was sedated when he was there.  He stood still while his owner was on him while llama's, horses, goats, people rushed right past him.  I noticed his front feet werent all that good.  His sister was also up for adoption but she was in the kill pen as she had really messed up feet.  Unfortunately, I couldnt save her and she went to slaughter.  I bid against a slaughter buyer for Ace and I ended up winning.  I thought he would have been a horse that I could adopt out fairly quickly!  Little did I know back then! We had a major problem getting him on the trailer.  It was like he woke up!  (yeah, from drugs probably!)  he was afraid of everything and everyone!  he wouldnt even walk over a little tiny rug that was on the ground!  I am sure that would came alive and ate him very quickly!  Michele and I worked with him alot.  He actually trashed a few things of mine including a metal stool, 2 round pen panels, some boards in the barn etc.  When he got afraid, you just make sure you were out of the way.  He didnt want to hurt anyone, but he was out of there when he felt threatened.  I did actually adopt him out twice, but both times came back because of not being a good fit.  This is when I met makon Buzzell.  She trained him to ride and to not be as afraid as did me and my friend Michele.  He still gets afraid, but will face it and not be such a baby about it.  He loves to cuddle and loves to get groomed.

We actually think he will do best staying here as he knows his place and actually loves the brutes ( I also call his herd - pigs).  It takes him so long to trust.  i try to tell him that he is bigger and can kick some butt, but he doesnt listen to me!

We need to get a farrier out here at least every 6 weeks for Ace.  He has a slipper foot in back and his right front, he puts more weight to the inside of his hoof.  he is always pretty lean although he is gaining more weight.  The 'pigs' shove him aside when they want his food.  I guard Ace and his grain at night so he gets it all!  What a sweet pea this guy is!

How about sponsoring him?

Sweetheart A 25+ Tennessee Walker and Saddlbred mix.

Sweetheart was a horse that had given rides to adults, their kids and then their grandkids.  they had her for a long time and decided to give her up. Her left front knee is fused so it cannot bend.  A challenge for the farrier, let me let you!  She over compensates with her R front leg.  She is in pretty good shape for an older girl and can actually move fairly fast when she wants something or trying to get away from the younger horses.  She is a wonderful girl and loves to be brushed.  She is paired up with Max right now and gets really irritated with him.  She has to have about 12-13 pounds of senior and sweet feed a day to keep up her weight.  She still does have some good teeth left.

How about sponsoring Sweetheart??
